‘Mystic Topaz’ is ‘real’ Topaz that is coated to add color. Much of the Topaz that is found in nature is in fact colorless, or ‘white’. To add color, Topaz can be coated with an ultrathin layer (film), which is similar to the coatings used on camera lenses.

Such coatings can add a particular color to the treated stones, or, In the case of ‘Mystic Topaz’, the coating creates interference effects, displaying a rainbow effect of various colors. This effect may give the Topaz an artificial appearance, which sometimes causes confusion about the nature of the material.

Coatings can be scratched or damaged easily. It should therefore be handled with the same care as pearls for example. The coating is sensitive to chemicals and therefore one needs to remove the jewelry when doing household activities that include bleach for example or before going into a swimming pool.

Although Topaz is a hard substance, it can be cleaved rather easily and perfectly in one particular direction. Therefore, boiling in water or the use of an ultrasonic cleaner are not recommended when cleaning pieces of jewelry set with Topaz.

Considered by followers of the New Age to be an excellent stone for treating mental stress, Hematite has a reputation for helping people bring order to mentally chaotic situations by drawing tension out of the body, neutralizing negativity and releasing anger.

In our experience, the best way to clean silver is by using baking soda, aluminium foil and hot water.

1. Put the silver jewelry, aluminium foil and some baking soda in a jar. You can use aluminium baking pan as well. This way, you don’t have to use the jar.
2. Pour hot water in the jar so that the jewelry is fully immersed in water. The tarnish should remove instantly.
3. If the jewelry is heavily tarnished, you might need to repeat the process.

This process is quite safe for the silver. We have not come across any gemstone, that should be avoided in this cleaning process. It is quite inexpensive way to clean and you don’t have to come into contact with any chemicals.

Early monks working at a glass factory near Venice, Italy were practicing alchemy when molten copper accidentally tipped into a molten glass container. This crystallized into thousands of tiny crystals and formed a melt with golden light sparkles. This is how the first goldstone came about. Though it is not technically a gemstone, it is often referred to as one. Goldstone comes in different colors, although red and blue are most common.
